Hi Mike
I want to get more sound from my 200w amp. I have a spare 90w amp and am wondering if there is a way I can connect them directly to get more leverage without having to purchase a bigger amp
Thanks
Joel

Hi Joel,
Thanks for your question. Assuming they are both powered amps the short answer is no. You cannot connect 2 powered amps directly safely. Having said that I have tried this using a Fender M-80 and Roland Cube using the Preamp Out on the Fender to connect directly to the guitar input of the Roland Cube. I must admit it did work and I played with that configuration for approx. 60 mins however in the back of my mind I kept waiting for something to blow 🙂 I haven’t tried it since as I like both amps!
Ways around this are:
1. Use an ABY switch to plug your guitar and have the output go to both amps
2. Some other sort of pedal which will allow for output. Ask at your local guitar store for suggestions
3. Mic your preferred amp and have the microphone plugged into the second amp.
4. See if the venue you’re playing at has a PA system and see if you can mic your amp to it
5. You can connect via your headphone output however in this scenario is pointless as you will be muting your primary amp, may really only be beneficial if you want to use settings from your primary amp
Hope these suggestions help and let me know if you have any further questions
Mike
